Donald Francis Hogan

1937 - 2002

Donnie Hogan, age 65, of Hayward, WI, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical center in Duluth, MN.

Donnie was born June 4, 1937 in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Martin and Thelma (Clements) Hogan. He graduated in 1955 from Jackson High School in Miami FL. He entered the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virgina for four years, serving on the aircraft carrier Valley Forge. He married Dorothy Jalowitz on June 4, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward. Donnie and Dorothy entered into business with Donnie's stepfather, Ed Polo, and built Hayward Bait & Tackle into one of the largest bait dealers in Wisconsin. 

Donnie was a former Yamaha snowmobile racer, winning many trophies.
He was a former president of the Sno-Mads and a former director of the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs. He was also a member of the Oddfellows. He loved working, reading, watching football, NASCAR, playing cards and listening to talk radio.

Donnie is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 42 years; two sons: Terry, Hayward, WI and Kevin (Sandra), Montrose, MN; two daughters: Patty Hogan, Glendale, AZ and Colleen (Mike) Marcell, Glendale, AZ; two grandchildren and one grand dog; one brother, Larry (Dorothy Jan) Hogan, Ft. Meyers, FL, and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Donnie Hogan was held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, October 29th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward, WI. Father Bill Green was the celebrant. Visitation was at the church on Tuesday the 29th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Military rights were accorded by the Hayward Veterans Council. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetary.

Honorary bearers were Jeff Breaker, Tom Butterfield, Carey Gidley, Larry Hogan, Greg Klein, Ron Meuwissen, Scott Puckett, Dave Schiess, Bob Schuster Jr., Steve Soddy, Rod Stein, Ward Williamson, Tom Turngren and George Tutor.

Casket bearers were Ricky Anderson, Skip Brueggeman, Doug Hanus, Jeff Ince, Gary Ruid, Denny Thorhaug, John Weber, and Snowball Williamson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 2323 N. Mayfair Road, Suite 502, Wauwatosa, WI 53226-1507.
The Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
